2. Who could you trust with your very life? Why?

3. Who could trust you with their life? Why?

4. If you found yourself away from your everyday life, as those in the annex did, what would you miss most from your daily routine? Why

Student #1I would Brind my family for one. Then i would bring a laptop because I cant live without a computer. I would also bring some books to read, because once I get bored of computer then i could read.

Responses to Student #1:

Student #2If I could only take a few things to the annex with me, the first thing I would take would be my cell phone. I could not live without talking to my friends whether it’s in text messaging or calling them. I would also bring my dog because I would hate to leave her behind. Another thing I would take with me is my hairbrush and hair straightener. I brush my hair all the time so it would keep me busy. The last thing I would take it my laptop. I would want to catch up on the news everyday.

Responses to Student #2:

1. Playing tag is like playing hide and go seek. The Jews were always hiding and the Germans were always trying to find them #16

Student #3

If I could only take a few things with me to a secret hiding place, I would take my iPod for some entertainment. The days could get boring very quickly. I would bring a phone to keep in touch with the outside world. I would bring a toothbrush to keep healthy and hygienic. I would bring as much money as I could because you don’t know how long you’re going to be in hiding.

Responses to Student #3:

1.I agree with you but what about a pillow and balnket. Don't you need to sleep and be comfortadle. I foregot about entertainment in my response but if I would have taken something it would have been my ps2 and portable dvd player and games. Nice job.

2. (#18) I agree with both of you. I think a pillow and blanket would be important but so is entertainment and hygiene. I would definitely have to bring my ipod and phone to keep in touch with my friends outside of the annex.

3.(#29) I agree if I had an I pod I would bring it too, the days could get boring and I’m entertained easily by music. Bringing a phone would be fun but the Nazis could track where the phone bills were coming form and find me so I don’t think it would be smart. I would definitely bring a tooth brush for hygiene! I don’t think I would bring money because I don’t know how useful it would be in the annex.

Student #4 I would bring my one of my friends so that after the quiet we could play. I would my games and a T.V. so I wouldn’t get bored. I would bring lots of food so that we wouldn’t have to have eat so little so we don’t run out. I would all so bring my cat because he would keep me company.

Responses to Student #4:

1.(#21) Ya I would agree with you that i would bring somene to keep me company. Food is a good idea but what if it runs out. Then you would also need to feed the cat. And where would you plug the t.v in, also if Anne only has 14 hours in the day to keep quite that wouldnt leave much t.v time now would it.

2.I agree with you and #21. bringing frineds would be a good idea, but you wouldn't be able to talk to them very much, if you had to be quiet. the food idea would be good to, but once all the food ran out, what do you do? and would you bring a liter box for the cat?

(9) I also agree with that but you wouldn't be able to do anything with them you would have to be quiet all the time. And the TV is the same here but i don't know about the cat unless if its a quiet.

11 I agree with you I would so bring my friends. My friends are the most important thing to me. I would bring food but when you ran out what would you do? I don’t know if bringing an animal is good if I could I would bring my dog but if you bring an animal they could be loud and they don’t know when to not bark or meow and when to not walk around and when to.

Student #6 If I would be placed in this situation, it would be a hard decision to find out what things I would bring. I would bring the computer, the TV, and several books. The computer and TV would provide news. News was very important for the Franks. Books, the computer, and the TV would also provide entertainment, which is needed after all those hours staying quiet.

Responses to Student #6:

1.

27 I would also bring a lot of books. They can entertain me for hours! The internet and the Tv would be really important too. But I would want a bed, food, water, and clothes too. I would also especially want soap and running water so I can stay healthy.

Student #7If I could bring something with me to a hiding spot I would want to take a friend so that I could share how I felt with them and talk to them after the long day. (This is after I would bring a family member.) I would trust my family with my everyday life because they are the things that keep us together. I could trust my friends because I know that if we really care about each other they’d be willing to care for someone I love. I f I were away from my everyday life I would probably miss hanging out and talking to anyone without a care in the world.

I would bring a friend because like in the annex they talked with friends and family to stay comfortable and safe together. I would trust my life to a family member because I know how much they love me (not to sound too self absorbed) and I would trust that they would do anything to keep me safe and like in the annex Anna’s family was there with her and she felt perfectly safe with them.. I would trust my family member with a friend because friends that care about me I hope would care about my family as much as I do and that relates to the annex because The Van Daans trusted their life to their friends, the Franks. I think that I would miss talking to my family and friends the most out of my everyday life because that’s what keeps me perfectly at home and it relates to the annex because they only had certain times when they could talk and when they got the chance they talked a lot. I think that the games we playes today related to the story because the mime game represtented the point that they couldn't talk so they had to find different ways to communicate and that the Zip/Zap game represented that you had to stay one step ahead of the Nazi's like in the story when they put that fake note in the house to make the Nazi's think that they woere in another location.

Student #9One of few things that I would defiantly need would be my PS2.I would need that because it is one of my prize possessions and without it I would be tortured without it. I could trust m good friend. He’s one of my best friends and we’ve been friends for a long time and I can trust him with anything. I think that myfriend could trust me with his life the same way I can. I would miss everything, my friends, my room, my stuff and everything.

Responses to Student #9: If i were going away I would also bring electronics for entertainment. I also can trust my good friend(s). I also believe my good friend(s)can trust me. I would also miss everything. --#10

1. (6) I would also want to bring as many friends as possible to the Annex. Without friends you would be lonely and bored. Along with my family, friends are one of the most important things in the world. I would bring my x box, computer, and TV. I think the computer would be the most important thing because you can obtain news easily.

Student #10If I were to go somewhere and only be able to take a few things I would bring my, i-Pod/ i-Pod charger, some clothes, a blanket/pillow, and pictures of my family. I would bring my i-Pod because it can hold music, pictures, movies, games, and more. My i-Pod would entertain me. I would bring a blanket/pillow so I would have a comfortable place to sleep. Lastly I would bring pictures of my family so I could remember them, if I was going to be away a long time.

Responses to Student #10:

1.

That’s a good idea to bring pictures of your family because if your taken off to a concentration camp, your never going to see them again. I would bring my iPod too. That’s good thinking about the pillow.

Student #11

If I was in the annex away from what is happening I would not know what to do. I would miss seeing all my friends and going to school and hanging out. I would miss coming home and going online talking to people. It would be hard not knowing what was going on outside the annex. The reason I would miss talking hanging out my friends is because I need my friends in my life when I am around them I always am laughing and joking around with them. The reason I would miss going to school is because I always see my friends and I love my electives and I love the teachers I have this year. The reason I would miss going online is because after school I love talking to my friends online and talking about what happened at school today.

Responses to Student #11:

1. I wouldn’t know what to do, it would be so hard to be quite all day long. I would miss all my friends a lot. I like to talk to people on the computer and it would be so hard to find some thing else to do. It would be hard to figure out what is going out side if the annex. I would miss all my friends very much. I always have fun when I’m around my friends, I would miss the jokes and the laughter of every one of my friends.

Student #12 I would miss waking up in the morning on Saturdays and Sunday playing Game Cube because it is a habit of mine, and if I don’t play it I get very mad. I would also miss my cats if I had to leave them behind because I can’t live without them. If I couldn’t go on the internet I would probably die. If I could bring something it would be my Game Boy Advance with 10 large bags of batters so I would not run out until the hiding was over.

Responses to Student #12:

1. (#19)ME TOO i like playing my Gamecube in the morning and if I didn't have that I would go LOCO!!!!! Same with the internet I would die too. But don't you want someone to keep you company (unless you thing gamecube as company).

(#4) I agree with both you and #19 because without my games and internet I would die too. The came boy idea is good to but what if the game gets boring. I would miss my cats if I didn’t bring them

(#23) I would go crazy if I couldn't go on the internet or play gamecube I would go insane with anger, rage, and sadness.

Student #15-- The person I would trust with my life would defiantly be my best friend. The reason I trust her with such a big, important thing is because everything else I have trusted her with, such as secrets, crushes, and silly jokes, she has kept to herself. I also know that I am her best friend, which gives me a little more confidence. Trust is something that could break anytime; it is a special bond that you just know is there. Sometimes, if you make a mistake with someone’s trust you may never get it back. My best friend has been there for me for two years now. We share everything and hang out 24-7. I trust her so much, I would trust her with something more than my life. If I was allowed to bring a friend to the secret annex with me, I would bring her.

Student #19 If I could only bring a few things in the annex, I would bring FOOD. If I got bored I would bring my cat Fenway. I would bring my gamecube, and a blanket and a pillow so I could sleep. I also bring a tv so I could watch my favorite shows. What would I miss if I had to lived in the "Secret Annex" I would miss the Sun. The chripping of the birds lol. The wind flowing through my hair. I would miss playing soccer, and hockey. It would be a different experience.

Responses to Student #19:

1. [#31]I would definetly bring food too, I kind of forgot about it. I would also bring my cat, and TV so I wouldn't get bored too. And I would also miss the chirping of the birds and the wind blowing through my hair. :)

Student #20

Few we could only take a few things with me I would take my ipod with charger because I cant live with out my music. Also some pictures of my friends so that I won’t forget them. Also my cats because with out them it would be so boring. I would only trust someone with my life if I’ve known them like since 1st grade or if they were my family members. If I couldn’t check me email everyday that would drive my crazy! Also staying still would be hard all day long. The mime game could be like how they had to be quiet about every thing that they did even normal stuff that we do every day. Such as washing the dishes.

Responses to Student #20:

1. [#7] I think that all of those things could be necessary in order to stay comforted at “home” and I think that the mime game is like how they couldn’t talk and how they had to do everyday tasks differently.

Student #21 What I would miss from my everyday life would probably being able to go outside and play a sport, just have fun. Because in the scret annex you only have a certain amount of time to do the things that you would be able to do in the day. To be able to go and smell the air and not smell it while trying to stay hidden. Anne is blocked off from the world. Having to be quite for 14 hours of the day. Not making any sudden movements. It would be hard to be quite for a long period of time for me. But Anne has grown to learn and live and except the fact that her life is gonna get as good as that, and not much better. I mean she only has 10 more hours to what ever she has to do. Clean the house up, eat, write in her diary, not much choices to pick from in the secret annex. I mean what is there to do in 10 hours when you dont have a t.v, or a radio(they do, but you have to go down stairs to use it.)Cant play much games because you may need to be quite even when the workers go home. And thats what happens to Anne, she was playing a game that included running and it sounded like one of the workes came back into the office, so every one froze with fear. Thinking they were going to get caught.

Responses to Student #21:

1. I would miss playing sports outside all the time too. It would definitely be very boring without a t.v. and the radio being out of their use.

2.~32~I didn't answer this question, but I would really miss playing sports and being active. I would get so tired of sitting around all day doing nothing. Also smelling the fresh air I would miss a lot too.

Student #22:

If I had to take only a few things with me to the “secret annex”, I really don’t’ know what items I would take. There are so many things that I use daily, that I don’t know what would be the most important for me. Other than food, I would want to take my iPod. Since we wouldn’t be able to make much noise, I would easily get sick of the silence. I would need something to “privately” break the silence. Something like my iPod! I would also want to take some medicine, in case anyone gets sick. Other then that, I would obviously take clothes and anything else that I could fit inside of my “backpack”. If I had to trust someone with my life, I would probably trust my cousin. He’s the person that I go to for advice on ANYTHING! I can tell him everything and he is awesome. Evan always takes things seriously, and he will do anything for his family. Even though he is 13, he is always anxious to help someone out, and do what he can to make life more comfortable for everyone. If someone had to trust me with his or her life, it would probably be, again, my cousin Evan. I can rely on him for anything. Again, he always trusts me and he always comes to me with his problems. He never even questions if I care, he expects that I’m listening and that I care about what he’s saying. He knows that sometimes that I’m not, but he still is eager to have me listen to him about his latest issue. If I were in the secret annex, I would miss being able to go to the bathroom whenever I needed to. Having to wait until a specific time of day would be horrible. Come on! When you got to go, you got to go! Right?

Responses to Student #22:

(20) I cant live without my ipod either. You could listen to it during the day when your in the annex because you can turn it down. I would trust a family member too. Since I hope that someone who is your family wouldn’t turn you in. Maybe a really good friend like one you’ve known since like preschool.

Student #23

Responses to Student #23: I can't live without my playstation2. You could turn the volume down while you are in the annex. I would trust my dad, and my best friend Josh. I've known Josh since kindergarten so can trust i'm very well. Having to wait to go to the bathroom for ever.

If I was stuck in a situation like that, I would bring my cat and I-pod with me, because my cat means a lot to

me and my I-pod would help me out when I got bored. I would have to trust my mom and dad with my life in that kind of situation. I think my little brother could trust me with his life. I would miss playing basketball outside and miss seeing my friends in school because without basketball, I would be all out of shape all the time.

Student #27 Books are definitely something I would take if I had to go into hiding. They keep me entertained, and you can read them over and over again. I would take a phone to keep in touch with my friends and relatives. Medicine would be important to take with you, because otherwise, if you got sick you wouldn't be able to do anything about it. I would take a bed and a pillow, so I could be comfortable while I sleep. I would also bring clothes, food, water and soap so I could stay healthy and clean.

Student #28I would take my stuffed dog, a blanket, a pillow, my music, and my real dog because I really like them all a lot. If I were in the annex I would miss a lot of stuff. I would miss my friends, family, a real house to live in, my back yard, and a lot of other stuff I used to have. It would really stink if I were in the annex, I would not like it at all, not one bit.

Responses to Student #28:

1.

#2 I agree with you. I would want blankets, pillows and stuff like that. I would want to bring my dog too because I would hate to leave her behind. I would hate to be in the annex too because I would not be able to move around all day or make any noise. Which is pretty hard to do.

Responses to Student #29:

1. Answer question #4-I think that I would miss my friends and fresh air, the ability to run around and play outside, the most. I believe that these would be the most missed activities, for my friends are pretty much my life. I do every thing with them and I have so much fun with them that I would miss their constant life they bring to every room. I would also miss the outside the most, because I am very hyper and love to run! I would find it hard to contain myself in a little annex.

Student (#30) If I were going away the things that I would take with me would be a blanket, a pillow, money, and a bag full of clothes. I would take a blanket and a pillow so that I could sleep and stay warm. I would bring money so that I could buy food and I would bring a backpack with clothes in it so that I wouldn’t be wearing the same thing every day and also so I could carry the pillow and blanket.

Student #31 If I found myself away from my everyday life I would miss not seeing my friends the most. I couldn’t imagine spending my whole life without seeing my friends, and not being able to leave the house. I would get so bored being with the same people everyday of my life. I would also actually miss everything from my life. I would definitely bring my Ipod, a friend, and TV so I wouldn't get bored, because I get bored easily.

Student #32

One of the few things I would take with me was my pillow. My pillow would be for comfort. I could cry in it or just relax from all the anxiety of that day. Also I would take music and tons of batteries!!! During the day when you had to be silent I would listen to the music to keep me busy. Another thing I would bring was dark chocolate and I would eat it in small bites, little by little. I would bring chocolate because it would taste really nice especially if we didn’t get a lot of regular meals. Then of course I would definitely have to bring a friend to keep me company. My friend would also not make me feel so out of place. O...I couldn't forget my pets. They would keep me company as well. Other than that I don’t know what would be as important.

Responses to Student #32:

1. [15] Me too! My pillow is a huge comfort object for me. I love it. The days would be very stressful and hectic, so I agree, this would help me calm down. I would take my iPod and charger to keep me occupied. Food is really good and would keep me stress-free also. I would hate to be in this annex situation but if forced, it would be hard to only pick a few things to take. I would go crazy if rushed, because I need time to think about what I want and need.
